HOME REPAIR PROGRAM Habitat's Home Repair Ministry provides assistance to low income homeowners who have need of home repairs in the Greater Harrisburg Area.Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area, a builder and seller of homes for low-income families announces a new program, Home Repairs. Home Repairs now serves low-income families who currently own their home but are unable to perform repairs or maintenance themselves due to physical or financial limitations. Our Home Repairs Ministry serves low -income homeowners in the Dauphin County and West Shore areas. Volunteers trained to do the required work complete the necessary repairs, perform any required maintenance and participate in site cleanup. To qualify for this program, a homeowner must have a need, meet our income guidelines and be willing to partner with our program. Partnering may include helping out in some way to help complete the repair or providing some of the materials. No one will be disqualified because of their inability to contribute. As always, income guidelines are based on the size of the family in need.
Priority is given to repairs or maintenance that are health or safety related. The program is unable to handle emergency repairs. Repairs or maintenance could include dry wall repairs, leaky faucets or toilets, painting, handrails, window or door repairs, roof leaks and wheelchair accessibility needs. To apply for the Home Repair Program, the homeowner should contact our Habitat for Humanity office at 717-545-7299 for a phone interview. Verification of income is required. A trained Home Repairs Coordinator will assess the homeowner's need and type of repairs or maintenance required. If approved, repairs will be completed in a timely fashion. This Habitat for Humanity affiliate is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. We build rehabs and perform repairs while offering decent and affordable housing in partnership with those who are living in inadequate living conditions in the Harrisburg area.
