The Critical Home Repair program is designed to help keep low-income families in their existing home by making home repairs for which there is a need.

The program addresses five key areas:

  1. Safety
  2. Security
  3. Accessibility
  4. Code Violations
  5. Energy Efficiency

To qualify for the Critical Home Repair program, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be the homeowner
  2. Must live in Dauphin County
    1. Harrisburg City residents must be current on all city, school, and county taxes
  3. Income must be below 80% of the area median income. Critical Home Repair Income Guidelines
  4. Must have a need that falls within the five key areas we address
  5. Show a willingness to partner and repay through a small financial payment and sweat equity
