Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities:

bullet Construction Volunteers:
perform one or more or common construction jobs, i.e. framing, siding, dry walling, painting, installing doors and windows. Volunteers will also do site/lot maintenance and house cleaning.   Construction is the building phase of the home, both new and rehab.  Construction teams will do their own daily site cleanup.
bulletConstruction Crew/Site Leaders:  are proficient enough to perform one or more of the job skills listed in section C; to lead a team of volunteers to complete specific tasks.
bulletRehab Demolition:  involves tearing out all the old materials, trims and systems back to the bare frame and shell.
bulletSite & Lot Maintenance:  mowing grass, whacking weeds, picking up trash and cutting brush.  May also involve picking-up around the construction site.
bulletHome Repair Volunteers:  includes roof patching, painting, small repairs and replacements, including trash clean-up, etc.
bulletAluminum Can Collections:  provide pickup of cans from homes and organizations and deliver them to our central drop-off location.  We also need someone to pick up cans from our central drop-off location and take them to an assigned recycler on a weekly basis.
bulletOffice Volunteers:  perform receptionist duties including answering the phone, data entry, maintaining files, making copies, distributing information, etc.
bulletChild Care Volunteers:  watch children ages 6 months to 12 years old of partner families and volunteers at a set location during Habitat activities at specified times. 
bulletFamily Mentor Volunteers:  Work one on one with the partner families to help them understand the responsibilities of home ownership; such as home maintenance and budgeting; assist the families with making certain construction selections.
bulletCommunity Outreach: will work at public events like fairs, trade shows etc. providing information to people interested in Habitat for Humanity activities locally, nationally and internationally.  We also need volunteers to speak at public events informing people about Harrisburg Habitat.  These activities are used to share Habitat’s mission with the general public.
