Build Blitz 2018 A Huge Success!

Harrisburg, PA– On June 21, 2018, over 150 youth and adult volunteers from Severna Park, Maryland packed up their power tools, strapped on their work boots, and loaded into vans to travel to Harrisburg for Build Blitz 2018. The group from Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church spent five work days on Swatara Street in Harrisburg building three future Habitat homes.

Over the course of their stay, the WoodsWork mission trip participants battled the rain and the heat, but never stopped smiling. As they clambered up scaffolding and raised walls, WoodsWorkers demonstrated their mission of “reaching out through service and reaching in through spiritual renewal.” It’s no surprise that Habitat for Humanity and Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church have partnered in this trip for over 30 years, because they were an absolute joy to work with all week. We can’t thank them enough for being such an integral part of the continuous revitalization and strengthening of our local community. Hopefully this will not be the last time our community gets to work with this wonderful crew!

Build Blitz 2018 was the culmination of a unique partnership between Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area and Tri-County HDC. It also wouldn’t have been possible without support from our sponsors: Erie Insurance, Enterprise, Wells Fargo, Schneider Electric, Valspar, Whirpool, D&H Cares, and Alliance Business Technologies.
