11th Annual Art Auction

Eleventh Annual Habitat for Humanity Art Auction, Calling All Artists

The Art Auction, featuring original art by local artists to benefit Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area, is scheduled for April 1, 2016.

The Eleventh Annual Habitat for Humanity Juried Art Auction will be held at the Hershey Country Club, April 1, 2016. Habitat is putting out the call for artists who would like to participate. Artists can sign up now at the non-profit’s web site, www.harrisburghabitat.org.

Live Art Auction Showing

The yearly event is an exciting way for artists, art collectors, community leaders and area residents to learn more about working artists in the Greater Harrisburg Area.

Proceeds will go toward supporting Habitat for Humanity’s mission of eliminating poverty housing in Dauphin County and the West Shore here in Central Pennsylvania.

The ten previous auction have raised just nearly $200,000, which has resulted in the completion of 29 critical home repair projects to keep families in their homes, and a rehabilitation project to move a family out of poverty housing.

“We’ve taken some very big steps to where we want this event to be,” said Shannon Deatrich, Habitat’s Art Auction Committee Chair. “We have had a great response from artists as well as from a very supportive business community. We always aim to have a variety of great items in our silent auction as well as one or two special packages in the live auction. These changes, along with the raffle and the amazing art donated by local artists, could take this event to another level for our Habitat affiliate.”

Last year, more than 200 participants were in attendance to helping Habitat raise, approximately $25,000.

The Habitat Art Auction Committee is busy securing items for special raffles and unique silent auction items. Some 40 to 50 original art pieces will be auctioned off to the highest bidder during the evening. B.J. Jennings of the Jennings Auction Group will once again be the auctioneer for the event.

Artists are encouraged to submit work as soon as possible as the deadline for entry is February 12th, 2016. All mediums are welcome! Time is needed to secure all the entries over the Internet and have the submissions go through the jury process.
