Registration opened Wednesday, June 1 for the Harrisburg Young Professionals’ Fourth Annual “Five Miles for Five Charities.” Registrants for the race will run a five mile route that starts on City Island and works its way through Harrisburg. The event also features a 5K walk and a kid’s quarter-mile fun run. Registration fees from the five mile race and 5K walk, as well as donations from the fun run, will benefit five local Harrisburg charities, including Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area.
This is the Harrisburg Young Professionals’ (HYP’s) fourth year hosting this event. The organization is designed to provide young, educated professionals in the Central Pennsylvania area an outlet to give back to the community. The group aims to support urban growth, mitigate the effects of suburban sprawl, and encourage educated young professionals to stay in the region and continue to benefit it.
Registration for the race is open until October 11, 2017, at 11:59 pm. All three races take place on the morning of October 14. Registration for the Five Mile race and the 5K are $35 each. More information about registration can be found here and at the HYP website.
