With Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area, you have the opportunity to transform your community and build a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Each year, over 2,400 volunteers participate in our builds, making our mission to provide safe, affordable housing possible. Through building, volunteers help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance necessary to build a better life.

Our volunteers come from a variety of groups, including corporations, congregations, foundations, civic organizations, schools, and universities. Many individuals also volunteer their time with Habitat for Humanity.

Learn how you can join us as a volunteer by choosing from the options below. If you would like more information or information for group volunteering please contact Tim Knox at tknox@harrisburghabitat.org or (223)-225-6578.

Volunteer Opportunities

Construction Volunteers – Construction volunteers aid in the demolition, construction, repairs, and maintenance of our homes. You don’t need to have any experience to build a Habitat home! We provide the tools, training, and encouragement and have projects for all skill levels and interests!
ReStore Volunteers – Our ReStore helps fund the cricital home repairs projects. ReStore volunteers are responsible for collecting donations; testing, cleaning, and merchandising products; and loading customer purchases. This is a fast moving environment. Volunteers must be able to lift 50 lbs.

AmeriCorps – AmeriCorps members serve with us for a year, working with and leading volunteer teams during home builds and repairs.
Office & Committee Volunteers – You don’t have to lift a hammer to help! Office volunteers assist with administrative tasks, and committee members help behind the scenes with jobs such as event planning and fundraising.
